Indigenous genetics return to the ring as ADMA Livestock Sale expands to include sheep

The third annual livestock sale at the Agricultural Dealers and Manufacturers Association Agrishow is set to take place on 6 June 2026, with proceedings beginning at 10am. After two successful sales showcasing Zimbabwe’s indigenous cattle breeds, this year’s event will see the format expanded to include sheep - the adapted Dorper and the indigenous Sabi - for the first time, broadening the offering and creating new opportunities for both buyers and breeders.
Since its inception, the sale has focused on promoting the value, resilience and productivity of indigenous genetics suited to local farming conditions. The event has steadily gained momentum within the livestock sector, attracting commercial producers, stud breeders and emerging farmers alike.
This year’s cattle offering will include Mashona, Nkone and Tuli breeds, with a strong line-up expected across both bulls and females. The Tuli section will feature five bulls and 24 females, while the Nkone entry includes three bulls and 12 females. A Mashona bull will also go under the hammer, alongside 19 females.
Adding further excitement to the 2026 sale is the inclusion of Sabi (3 rams) Dorper (18 rams, 13 ewes) sheep, reflecting growing interest in small stock production and diversified livestock enterprises across the region.
A major contributor to the growth of the event has been Fivet Zimbabwe, which has supported the sale as Platinum Sponsor from its inception. This year, the company has introduced a series of buyer incentives aimed at encouraging participation and rewarding successful bidders.
Fivet will offer four USD 1,000 vouchers redeemable at its Pomona branch, with one voucher awarded through a random draw in each of the following buyer categories: Nkone, Mashona, Tuli, and sheep buyers.
The incentives are expected to add further energy to the auction atmosphere while highlighting the importance of strategic partnerships in strengthening Zimbabwe’s livestock industry.
With quality genetics, growing industry support and an expanded format, the 2026 ADMA Agrishow livestock sale promises to be one of the highlights of this year’s exhibition calendar.
