Ready for Zimbabwe's biggest agricultural showcase? It’s not long to go until the ADMA Agrishow returns to ART Farm, Pomona, Harare Drive from June 5-7. This event brings together farmers, suppliers, and ag enthusiasts for three days of innovation, equipment, and inputs associated with agriculture in Zimbabwe.

Whilst the finer details of organising an event of this scope are still being fine-tuned, here’s a sneak peak of what to expect.

This year's show is shaping up to be the biggest yet with:

  • 26 Platinum Stands
  • 110 Gold Stands
  • 77 Silver Stands
  • 36 Bronze Stands

Tips for first-timers (and seasoned visitors)

Beat the rush and arrive early! The Harare Drive turnoff entrance can get seriously busy, with thousands of visitors creating a "rural rush hour" unlike anything you'll see the rest of the year.

Last year, the organisers created a one-way traffic system, with the traffic flow of visitors leaving being directed to exit onto the Teviotdale road to avoid any end-of-day traffic jams. Traffic police were also on duty over the course of the show to assist with managing traffic buildup which can result from this hugely popular event.

Details have not yet been shared of the management of this year’s traffic entering and exiting the Agrishow (which returns to the same venue for the third year running).

Getting around

There are two public entrances this year and the popular tractor shuttle service ferrying visitors from the car park in the fields adjacent to the Showgrounds to the entrances is expected to make a return. The organisers have also increased the number of toilets – a welcome improvement for everyone!

Remember to make a mental note of where you park as finding your vehicle among the sea of cars at the day's end can be challenging!

Dress for success

The Agrishow is an outdoor affair spread out over a large area requiring lots of standing and walking, so wear your most comfortable shoes to explore the exhibits and stalls.

Don't forget sunscreen and a hat as you'll be spending hours in the open air. Check the weather forecast too - it has been known to rain over the Agrishow in past years and an umbrella might just be a welcome addition! If you’re staying late, be sure to bring a fleece long sleeved top to beat the early evening winter chill.

Fuel up

Hungry? The show features at least 8 food stalls (with more being confirmed), offering a wide range of meals, takeaways and snacks guaranteed to satisfy any craving.

Be sure not to miss the Indigenous Livestock Exhibition and Sale. Following the success of last year’s event, its even bigger this year. Meet some of Zimbabwe's top livestock breeders and admire the country's finest indigenous Sanga (Mashona, Nkone and Tuli) cattle breeds and Boer and Kalahari Red goats.

Whether you're a serious farmer looking for equipment upgrades, an agriculture professional networking with peers, or simply a family enjoying a day out, the ADMA Agrishow offers something for everyone.

At the time of going to press, the entrance fee has not been set.
